Gutenberg: The Musical!

Doug Simon and Bud Davenport are two men with a dream: to write a hit Broadway musical. And with Gutenberg! The Musical! they’ve done just that. Come on down and watch as Doug and Bud perform all the roles and sing all the songs of their musical documenting the life and work of Johann Gutenberg, inventor of the printing press. And if you’ve got any big Broadway producer friends, bring them along too! Bud and Doug LOVE your big Broadway producer friends! It promises to be, like, probably the best musical about two guys who have written a musical about Johann Gutenberg that you will ever see.

GUTENBERG! THE MUSICAL received three New York Musical Theatre Festival awards including Excellence in Musical Theatre Writing and was nominated for an Outer Critic’s Circle Award, a Lortel Award, and two Drama Desk awards.

I was super lucky to see the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met before it closed and am still just in awe of the art - fashion - performance fusion that is Alexander McQueen!  A revisit to the roof garden was a must too!

Above is the 1999 Spring/Summer White tube dress that was spray painted by two machines while the model wore it on the runway!  To the right is the roof garden at the Met with sculptures by Artist Jeff Koons.

I was also so lucky to see Jez Butterworth’s stunning play JERUSALEM in it’s last week on Broadway.  Mark Rylance is a theatre God and delivered one of the most captivating perfomrances I have ever seen! (the other is his portrayal of Olivia in the Globe’s 02 production of Twelfth Night!)  The ensemble was killer as well and this play just blew me away!  One of the most thrilling moments of summer!

I also had time to spend with family in St. Louis and there is nothing more inspiring than seeing home and family!  I couldnt ask for a more supportive. amazing family!  Cheers to a fun end to summer and a super awesome and productive fall!  More and more to come!  Stay posted!

I am so honored to have participated in this great event and even more so that both of my pieces were sold!  After its debut on Michigan Avenue, “City Pulse” will be on permanent display at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.  I couldn’t be happier!

Artists Back Big-Hearted Campaign

On January 21st I leave for a really exciting trip to Chicago to participate in a campaign with big heart.  Literally!    For the month of February Michigan Avenue will “bloom” with 100 five-foot hearts designed by over 50 participating artists, as part of the “Hearts A Bluhm” Campaign to promote awareness during National Heart Health Month.  My heart, City Pulse, will feature a skyline heart rate that represents the pulse of the city, and the importance of keeping that pulse alive and healthy every day.  I am honored and thrilled to participate and can’t wait to get back to Chicago after 6 years!

This much-anticipated public art exhibit is bringing Individuals and leading corporations from across the city together to support the Northwestern Memorial Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute’s “Hearts a Bluhm” heart health awareness campaign. The hearts will be accompanied by heart health facts and tips, and will “Bluhm” down The Magnificent Mile® February 1 to 28, 2011. “Hearts a Bluhm” was created to raise awareness about the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death in America.

New light fixtures hung from the ceiling in the studio. These are the newest addition to my work and made from salvaged materials! 

The tube lamps make for great twinkle of ambient light in the corner of a room or next to a bed.
